On April 24 & 25, 2009, the Springfield-Clark CTC sent 28 students to the SkillsUSA State conference. There were a total of nearly 3000 SkillsUSA members and advisors from career technical schools throughout Ohio in attendance. Voting delegates representing Ohio’s 32,000 plus members elected seven state officers during the two-day conference. We are proud to say that two of our students were elected into state office. Charles Leatherman (Tecumseh) a junior in the Carpentry program was elected in as the State Parliamentarian and Ashlee Hall (Northeastern) a junior in the Health Occupations Technology program was elected in as the State Reporter. This is the sixth year in a row that the Springfield-Clark CTC has had at least one student elected into state office. We also had seventeen students competing in career technical skill contests and leadership contests. Heather Rouch (Southeastern) a senior in the medical Assisting program place 1st in the medical assisting contest. David Gummel (Emmanuel) a junior in the Engineering program placed 1st in the prepared speech contest.

Charles, Ashlee, Heather and David will represent the Springfield-Clark CTC and Ohio at the SkillsUSA National Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, June 21-27, 2009. Charles and Ashlee will serve as national voting delegates and will work to elect the next seven SkillsUSA national officers. Heather will compete against the best in the nation in the Medical Assisting field and David will compete against the best in the nation in the prepared speech contest.
